Preparing for my Macbeth essay

Today we got back in our groups to work on the introduction of the essay. We focused on the thesis and thesis statement. We also focused on the  theme and summary so that we can put it in our essay.  During this process it wasn’t very difficult because I understood the play and the meaning of the work as a whole. I learned a lot today and is looking forward to learning more tomorrow.

Brainstorming prompt

Today we finished the play Macbeth and our instructor gave us a prompt to choose from through the years 19..-2019. We separated into groups and my group chose year 2005. The prompt was making a connection to characters out of any play or novel hat we chose from. The play that we chose was Macbeth and we had to brainstorm the prompt to get ready to write a thesis statement and essay. The process of brainstorming isn’t all that bad. It’s actually very helpful depending on if you know the information or not or depending on if you understand the prompt it self. I learned that you can’t brainstorm if you don’t know anything about the piece of work you choose. Brainstorming the prompt also helped be think beyond just analyzing one part of the play, instead it helps you connect parts of the play that you need to create your thesis statement and essay as well as finding evidence.

Creating a story

Today the teachers assignment was to create a story based on the plot that we create as a class. I had fun with my peers creating this plot. I enjoyed laughing and cooking up with scenarios with them as well. I chose to do a story about a lady and her secret lover.

Creating a play Parody of Macbeth

In the play Macbeth by Shakespeare Macbeth and his wife lady Macbeth set up King Duncan and killed him while he was at their home. Yesterday my teacher assigned the class different scenarios on if the play went another way. He gave my group the scenario of “What if king Duncan killed Macbeth?”. So my group and I started talking and making different scenes for our play. The process of making them wasn’t as hard as I thought it was because we did great in one day. Along with the play,  we had to pick and act out  celebrities as the characters from the original play. The celebs we used were Nicki Minaj(King Duncan), Cardi(Macbeth), Offset(Lady Macbeth), Drake(Donalbain) and Lil Wayne(Macduff). I actually had fun making the scenes for this play it was awesome I hope we get to do it again.

The murder of king Duncan

Today we read Act 2-3 of Macbeth by Shakespeare. During these two scenes Macbeth and  Lady Macbeth were plotting to kill king Duncan and as the play went on they successfully murdered him. However king Duncan’s sons are curious about the murder of there father so they fled the area for safety for themselves. So when we finished those two scenes my teacher told us to investigate and find holes in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s murder and write done five quotes that we thought were important from what we have read.
Today we read the first five scenes of Macbeth. I enjoyed reading it with the class and playing different parts. The play actually became interesting as we went on. It became very suspenseful. I am looking forward to reading more tomorrow.

America

Today as a class we discussed questions that the teacher gave us. Most of the questions was about how it’s like being an American and about the tragedy of 9/11. As we discussed these questions I realized that being an American is a privilege because not many counties and different places have the type of freedom that we have. The American freedom might not be as much to the Americans but can mean a lot to those who doesn’t have as much freedom. Also we talked about the tragedy of 9/11 and how it brought America closer to each other and how it was one of the biggest attack on America ever in that time. As I might say that I came to realize that segregation isn’t really going anywhere no matter what happens in the world people are always going to self-segregate themselves. I just wish and hope to be a very important and vocal individual of America to let people know how I feel about things because maybe my words can change others perspectives on life as a whole.

Introducing Macbeth the play

Today my teacher introduced to us the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. We talked about the themes and symbols of the play. We also made connections with our life to the mistakes and symbols of the play. As we discussed the play my urge grew to read and analyze the play. It seems like great work and something that will help me with life in the future. I can’t wait to read it tomorrow!

Sonnet 29 Analysis

Today we were assigned a sonnet by William Shakespeare. We had to annotate, paraphrase and summarize it. While doing this the most difficult part for me was paraphrasing because the poem is complex. Therefore we had to think outside the box to get the message of the poem. We also had to make an argumentative question and answer it in a paragraph. I think I did well on my paragraph as well as my summary. All and all it was a great day of learning and I hope to learn more tomorrow.

Who am I where do I belong? (Sonnet)

Who am I..where do I belong? Lost may I say, confused maybe who knows?  Out in the world often silent but strong. Trust is misused by those with no oppose.  Life is hard, though like stones heart cold as ice No Love, No life, Despair, Despite TRAGIC! Lone with myself, my mind, my soul nasty nice.  I tend uplift whenever I shoot in a basket. A ball and my hands...a perfect couple.  Bounce back... Bounce back to me though like magnets. The sounds of the static OH! so supple.  To go I bounce you guard, you can’t have it.  To feel alive I go where I hear songs. Boom Boom Swish Swish...my Mind my Soul Along.

Creating my own sonnet!

Today my teacher gave a us packet explaining stressed and unstressed variables along with a paper to create our own sonnet. My first thought was “wow  this is going to be great”. However, as I moved forward in starting my sonnet I realized that it was quite difficult. The most confusing part in creating the sonnet was following the pattern for the unstressed and stressed syllables. Therefore I kept working on it and finally created a sonnet that I am proud of.

Sonnet 18

Today we read a sonnet by Shakespeare. We also learned about rhyme scheme and stressed and unstressed words. The sonnet that we read was very good and had a deep meaning of beauty and life.
