Today we read a sonnet by Shakespeare. We also learned about rhyme scheme and stressed and unstressed words. The sonnet that we read was very good and had a deep meaning of beauty and life.
What a powerful poem! Today’s lesson was on a poem called I Felt a Funeral in My Brain by Emily Dickinson. I really loved the poem because of its complexity and because it is very powerful. The theme of this poem is that silence can be very powerful. With that being said this poem taught me life lessons as well. I tried my best to analyze the poem on my own and I got very far but with the help of my teacher and classmates I understood it even more. I’m glad that my teacher introduced this author and this specific poem to me because I really enjoyed reading and analyzing it.
Today we finished some group work from last week. After the group work we continued to read “The Color Purple”. The novel is getting more and more interesting as we go. We are finding out a lot of things that we didn’t know in the beginning. Celie is becoming stronger and smarter as the novel progresses. I made this assumption because of how the author is progressing her writing in the letters. Celies letters are getting better for as grammar wise. I find that skill very interesting and difficult for the author but she made it work. Tomorrow we will continue reading and I hope it is even more better than today.
