Poem presentation to the class!

Today my teacher separated  us into groups and gave each group a poem by Emily Dickinson to analyze. Analyzing this poem wasn’t as hard as analyzing some of her other poems. The poem that my group and I analyzed was called This is My Letter to the World. I really enjoyed this poem because it had many themes and different interpretations of the poem. While presenting this  poem I learned that the word “world” has more than one definition to it. I also recognized that the authors poem was edited because the first line of the poem didn’t match the title of it. All and all it was a great poem and a great productive day in class.

What a powerful poem!   Today’s lesson was on a poem called I Felt a Funeral in My Brain by Emily Dickinson. I really loved the poem because of its complexity and because it is very powerful. The theme of this poem is that silence can be very powerful. With that being said this poem taught me life lessons as well. I tried my best to analyze the poem on my own and I got very far but with the help of my teacher and classmates I understood it even more. I’m glad that my teacher introduced this author and this specific poem to me because I really enjoyed reading and analyzing it.

Reflection A Lesson Before Dying: Ch.1-3

Chapter 1 left me yearning to see what was going to happen next because I thought Jefferson’s attomey story was convincing, but the court still found Jefferson guilty for the murder of Alcee Grope. Chapter 2 introduced Grant, the narrator, who is also Tante Lou’s nephew. I didn’t like that Tante Lou made Grant go and talk to Henri pichot against his will not knowing Louis Rougon would accuse him of making Miss Emma and Tante Lou come and talk to Henri about Jefferson. From reading chapter 3 I implied that the lesson of the book would be being acknowledge for what you truly are. In Jefferson’s case a man.

Mirror

Today we read a poem called “Mirror” by Sylvia Plath. The poem is about self perception and disbelief.  After we got done reading the poem my instructor gave us an assignment. The assignment was to look in our camera and write down what we see in our reflection. Here’s what I wrote.   When I look in the mirror I see a beautiful black Queen with pretty succulent lips and a nice smile. I see a hound lady who doesn’t takes any mess from anyone, a young lady who will soon be powerful and beyond successful in everything that she does. I see a fierce young lady who has no flaws.
